چکیده

The suppressor of Hairy-wing [su(Hw)] protein mediates the mutagenic effect of the gypsy retrotransposon by repressing the function of transcriptional enhancers located distally from the promoter with respect to the position of the su(Hw)-binding region. Mutations in a second gene, modzjier of mdg4, also s e c t the gypsyinduced phenotype. Two major effects of the mod(mdg4)'"' mutation can be distinguished: the interference with insulation by the su(Hw)-binding region and direct inhibition of gene expression that is not dependent on the su(Hw)-binding region position. The mod(mdg4)'"' mutation partially suppresses ct', s?' and Hw' mutations, possibly by interfering with the insulation effect of the su(Hw)-binding region. An example of the second effect of mod(mdg4)'"' is a complete inactivation of yellow expression in combination with the y2 allele. Phenotypic analyses of flies with combinations of mod(mdg4)'"' and different su(Hw) mutations, or with constructions carrying deletions of the acidic domains of the su(Hw) protein, suggest that the carboxy-terminal acidic domain is important for direct inhibition of yellow transcription in bristles, while the amino-terminal acidic domain is more essential

Molecular Diagnosis of Familial Hypercholesterolemia

Abstract Background and objectives: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is an autosomal disorder characterized by increased levels of total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol. The FH clinical phenotype has been associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease and premature death. The mutation in LDLR gene in most cases is responsible for FH phenotype. Furthermore, other ...

بررسی ژنتیکی یک مورد بیماری تب مدیترانه‌ای حاد با شروع در دوره‌ی نوزادی

Background & objective: FMF is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder characterized by acute episodes of fever accompanied by severe abdominal pain, pleurisy, arthritis, and skin rashes. Clinical symptoms of the disease vary considerably in patients, and little is known about the origin of this variation. This study investigates a male patient suffering from severe FMF and his parents. Materia...

Comprehensive Computational Analysis of Protein Phenotype Changes Due to Plausible Deleterious Variants of Human SPTLC1 Gene

Genetic variations found in the coding and non-coding regions of a gene are known to influence the structure as well as the function of proteins. Serine palmitoyltransferase long chain subunit 1 a member of α-oxoamine synthase family is encoded by SPTLC1 gene which is a subunit of enzyme serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT). Mutations in SPTLC1 have been associated with hereditary sensory and auto...

بررسی جهش های اگزون 11-10ژن فنیل آلانین هیدروکسیلاز در بیماران فنیل کتونوری از استان گلستان

Background: Phenylketonuria (PKU), the most common inborn error of aminoacid metabolism, is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by more than 600 mutations in Phenylalanine Hydroxylase gene (PAH). Distribution pattern of mutations in the PAH gene are specific to each population. The aim of this study was to identify mutations in exons 10 and 11 of the PAH gene in patients with PKU from Golest...

Incidence of ganciclovir resistance in CMV-positive renal transplant recipients and its association with UL97 gene mutations

Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) remains the most common infection affecting organ transplant recipients. Despite advances in the prophylaxis and acute treatment of CMV, it remains an important pathogen affecting the short- and long-term clinical outcome of solid organ transplant recipient. The emergence of CMV resistance in a patient reduces the clinical efficacy of antiviral therapy, complicates t...
